Beanie Calin
Beanie Calin - At a glance:
LEVEL: 2-Challenge Accepted | ⏰: ~ 8 hours | Method: Circular
Yarn: BKB Merino – 3.5 oz | Needles: US size 8 & 10 (5 and 6mm)
The Design:
The Beanie Calin by Brooknit Bonneterie is a warm hug for your head.
The choice of textures offers a unique size that fits children as young as 7 years old, up to adults, as young as you like!
The brim is made of a folded layer of ribs to provide both stretch and warmth. The rest of the beanie features an interesting, pretty, and elegant cable-and-twist texture that adds thickness for protection from the cold.
You may add a pompom at the top for a final touch, if you like!
Why “Calin”?
It is “hug” in French, and that’s exactly what this plastron is: a warm hug for your upper body!
Pick your favorite color, the one that goes with everything, or a special one that will stand out.
The Process:
It is not a very hard project for knitters and is relatively quick to knit. It is a very entertaining project, but it will definitely require attention and focus, counting, and precision.
The pattern is written as a single size and knitted in the round, starting the ribbed brim with a single thread of yarn on smaller needles. Once folded, the rest of the beanie is knitted with a double strand of yarn on the larger-size needles.
