The Design:
The Faire & Square blanket by Brooknit Bonneterie is a lightweight, cozy layer that provides just the right amount of warmth and comfort.
It can be a baby blanket, a lap blanket, or your travel blanket.
This concentric-square knitting design helps keep the blanket in shape and live the life of a blanket to the fullest, i.e., not kept in the closet!
The design effects on both sides are subtly different yet equally pretty, making it reversible.
It is ideal for beginners who are looking for a lengthy project and practice their dexterity, alternating the Knit and Purl stitches: the secret is in the numbers.
Our Merino wool is perfect for this project: soft and strong, it is truly a pleasure to feel it on your fingers. The medium worsted weight is perfect for feeling encouraged as you watch the project progress before your eyes, and for creating the light layer you crave.
Why “Faire & Square”?
It’s a playful name that refers to a straight, geometric design, so you can see exactly what you are getting into! Faire is French for “to make”, because you know… You’re making it!
Two sizes (approximations – results may vary depending on knitter’s tensions):
Standard: 26in X 29in (~66cm X 74cm)
Large: 25in X 37in (~63cm X 94cm)
The Process:
It is knitted flat, alternating a specific sequence of Knit and Purl stitches to play with the stockinette and garter texture. It’s simple, but requires patience and attention to keep track of the changes.
It is completely symmetrical, and once you reach half of the blanket, you will repeat the same sequences in reverse.

The Faire & Square blanket is quite a lengthy project (about 30 hours on average). We do not offer hand-knit services for this item.

- 20 stitch markers (perfect to track stitch changes)
- 1 marker row counter. So helpful to track your progress.

Knitting needles are optional. We have circular needles in aluminum and bamboo, as you prefer.
