The Design:
The Mariniere Infinity scarf by Brooknit Bonneterie is a derivative of the easy infinity scarf, adding the iconic French stripes of the seaside, coastal Mariniere style.
It is pretty, elegant, and versatile.
It is designed as a closed loop, which may be wrapped twice for a nice warming effect. It is surprisingly lightweight and does not take up much space when you carry it around.
The softness of merino wool makes it ideal for quickly warming you up and keeping the cold at bay.
Why “Mariniere”? Why “Infinity”?
It is called Mariniere, a French term for the coastal-style horizontal stripes on clothing. Our initial striped design uses Meringue and Slate, staples of the seaside, but you may “stripe it your way” and pick other shades!
The “Infinity” refers to the design as a large loop, no apparent beginning, no end, no seam!
The Process:
For knitters, it is a great project to practice knitting in the round with long rows of stitches. You start by casting on a fairly large number of stitches. Then you will start and end with garter stitches, and knit most of the scarf in stockinette, with regular color changes.
The pattern is written in a single size and knitted in the round.
