The Design:
The Plastron Calin by Brooknit Bonneterie is a warming, stylish cowl that extends to cover the top of the chest.
It’s a plastron made from a double string of yarn, which is quite thick and warm, and gives a nice hug to your neck and chest, while being short on the back.
The rib stitches for the turtleneck make it very stretchy and fit any size, while the seed stitches and cable on the chest ensure the shaping.
Why “Calin”?
It is “hug” in French, and that’s exactly what this plastron is: a warm hug for your upper body!

The Process:
For knitters, it is an ideal project: an attention-seeker, challenging yet not out of reach, and fast to knit.
The turtleneck is knitted in the round first, with increases as we reach the collarbone and shoulders.
Then you bind off the back and shape the front of the chest with seed stitches, Icord, and a central cable.
