The Design:

The Mariniere beanie by Brooknit Bonneterie is a derivative of the easy beanie, adding the iconic French stripes of the seaside, coastal Mariniere style.

It is pretty, elegant, and versatile.

This light, stretchy beanie sits on your head without feeling tight.

The softness of merino wool makes it ideal for quickly warming you up and keeping the cold at bay.

Why “Mariniere”?

It is called Mariniere, a French term for the coastal-style horizontal stripes on clothing. Our initial striped design uses Meringue and Slate, seaside staples, but you can “stripe it your way” and choose other shades!

The Process:

For knitters, it is a great project to practice knitting in the round. It uses a main color and a secondary color to knit the 3 stripes.

The brim of the beanie is knitted in Garter, while the rest of the head and the crown are in stockinette. You will practice regular decreases for the crown and to close the beanie.

The pattern is written in various sizes and knitted in the round.
